Villagers fear travellers will still set up camp if Maldon District Council do not take permanent action.
An extraordinary public meeting is being held at Tillingham’s village hall by the parish council on today to discuss the possibility of gipsy’s arriving and how to stop them.
Last month, John Williams raised the alarm after a driveway was built on land close to him in Grange Road, despite recent planning permission for a house being refused.
He was concerned that travellers would occupy the site over the bank holiday weekend, when the council offices would be shut.
Maldon District Council issued a temporary stop notice, which expires on Thursday.
Mr Williams, a retired policeman, believed Maldon District Council should enforce an injuction instead.
