HELPFUL primary school pupils assisted shoppers with their bags to raise money for their playground.
Pupils of Wentworth Primary School in Maldon took part in a charity bag-pack at Tesco in Fullbridge on Sunday to raise hundreds of pounds in the space of a couple of hours.
The pupils assisted various Tesco shoppers packing away all of their groceries and received donations to help go towards their school and playground facilities.
The children worked from 10am to noon and raised more than £400 through donations from satisfied customers.
A school spokesman said: "The bag pack went extremely well, through donations the children raised a total of £435.87 within two hours, which was a fantastic achievement and will go towards their playground.
"We received great feedback from Tesco and the customers, who complimented the children's behaviour and how polite they were, which they should be very proud of."
