A PUB in Maldon has completed over £100k’s worth of refurbishments.
The Jolly Sailor began its refurbishment on January 4 and finished this week.
During the refurb, overseen by Make Construction, the management of the pub was keen to keep the features of the historic pub whilst bringing it up to date with the latest technology.
Alan Brett, Operator of the pub since 1995, said: “We have kept the historic parts of the listed building whilst working closely with Maldon District Council listed building department throughout the refurb.
“The restaurant is now specialising in fresh fish, whilst carrying a snack menu for lighter dining.
“After finishing the internal refurb we started on the outside, removing the bird Avery and installing a sun deck with comfortable sofas.”
Work was also carried out on the bed and breakfast and kitchens, with all top and lower decks being retiled.
The restaurant has been re-branded as ‘The Fish on the Quay’ with the total cost of the refurb coming to £104,000.
Alan added: “I am very pleased and proud to restore this lovely building.
“We’re really looking forward to serving the public as we have done for many years.”
