The 8th biennial Festival of Music and Arts in Tillingham continues for the rest of this week. This evening there is a piano recital by Eduard Kunz, the outstanding young Russian pianist who graduated from the Moscow Tschaidovsky Conservatoire in 2003 and went on to achieve an impressive list of musical successes. He came to the Tillingham Festival in 2005 and was greatly acclaimed. Tomorrow evening Essex-based jazz musicians Ray Catling on solo guitar, Nevil Skrimshire on rhythm guitar, Eddie Johnson on bass and Kay Usher on violin will be together as the Hot Club Quartet when they present an evening of popular jazz standards with a flavour of 1930's Paris. On Saturday the renowned Aveley and Newham Band will be back in the village to delight those who enjoy traditional brass and music. These concerts are all in St Nicholas Church at 8pm. The exhibition of paintings in pastel, watercolour and oil as well as ceramics, wood and textiles is still on at the Congregational Church from 2-6pm today, tomorrow and Saturday, as well as 4-8pm on Friday. Programmes are available around the village giving more details of performers, and prices/tickets are obtainable from several local outlets and from the box office at 43 South Street, Tillingham - 01621 778936 - or contact the secretary on 01621 778132.
