A heartbroken tortoise owner is desperately trying to track his pet down after he went missing.

Jamie Bowkett, 30, has been searching for ten-year-old Bob who disappeared two weeks ago from the garden of his home in London Road, Maldon.

Bob, who regularly goes for treks around the back garden, was last seen enjoying some food on Thursday, June 7.

However, there has been no trace of him since.

Mr Bowkett said: “The garden has a nine foot-high wall around it and is all patio so it’s impossible for him to be hiding.

“We’ve pulled everything out inside the house and looked everywhere for him. It’s quite worrying. I thought maybe a bird of prey might have picked him up but he’s too heavy for them.

“Mum is devastated, I’m devastated. It’s like a horrible mix of upset and confused.

“We just want to find him.”

After launching an appeal for information on social media, Mr Bowkett was quickly put in touch with Emma Deal who specialises in helping find missing pets.

Jamie added: “She has been really helpful. She told me straight away what I needed to do and how I could spread the word.

“We’re using the hashtag #findbob to get it out there. So if anyone thinks they may know where he is please get in touch.”
