YOUNGSTERS turned out with buckets and bait as they took part in a crabbing competition.
The sun shone as Maldon Carnival held its ninth annual competition in Promenade Park on Saturday.
Trophies were awarded on the day for biggest crab for the under-eights, eights to 12s and 12 and over.
The biggest crab weighed in at 56g and was caught by nine-year-old Lily Morgan.
The under eights competition was claimed by Ava and Willow Cower.
Lily Morgan won the eight to 12 category and Lia Heigham picked up the prize in the 12 and over category.
Carnival chairman Rob Slight said it was a fantastic day.
The competition is part of a host of events the carnival organises in the town throughout the year and follows on from a successful carnival week held earlier this month.
