Taylor Wimpey will invest hundreds of thousands of pounds into youth facilities as part of the Limebrook Way development.
Although the reserved matters application was thrown out, the developer’s proposal to build a set of new football pitches, play areas, other youth facilities and allotments were approved by the council.
The total value of the contribution from the developer amounts to around £700,000.
The proposal was changed by the council to give Maldon Town Council control of the allotments.
Maldon East councillor Stephen Savage proposed the change, saying: “I had great concerns about this in one aspect only.
“In this area there are many organisations that have the authority to run allotments.
“In the case of these allotments, the management of these should be offered in the first instance to the relevant parish council.”
The creation of the new sports facilities were supported by Sport England.
Taylor Wimpey will build the new sports facilities in the new garden suburb, rather than funding them for the council to build.
