A WARTIME aviation museum renowned for its heritage and history is now taking steps into the future with the launch of its cutting-edge and immersive new development.
Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome has spent the last six months secretly working with tech gurus CGEye to create an ‘augmented reality’ phone application.
The downloadable app, which is available now via Android’s Google Play and Apple’s App store and is still looking to improve features, is designed to uniquely enhance the experience of those visiting the historic airfield.
Users can use the digital technology to a explore an aircraft hangar, marvel at the unmistakable sight of a Zeppelin flying over the aerodrome and view the aerodrome as it would have been in the past.
Stow Maries chief executive Ian Flint said: “Firstly I would like to thank the team at CGEye for creating such a great tool for the aerodrome.
“For a heritage site it is still important to be at the forefront of new technology opportunities and I believe the site will really benefit by having this extra offering for visitors to experience.
“Also, with Armed Forces Day just around the corner on June 29, I hope our very dedicated cadet teams will enjoying using the feature on site.”
