Hopefully most residents will know that Battle have started a legal fight to overturn the decision to allow the Wind Farm Development at Bradwell on Sea Now, more than ever, we need your support if we are to be successful.

To keep everyone informed we are holding a meeting at Bradwell Village Hall on Friday 30th November from 7.30pm We will give everyone the latest update on the challenge and there will also be a short presentation from Jane Davis who used to live close to the same type of turbine being used at Bradwell before her property became uninhabitable.

Her account makes very interesting if worrying listening.

If you are interested in preserving our villages, please come along and join us for a drink and mince pies (kindly donated by committee members) and find out what you can do to help.

FLOWER SHOW

The AGM of the Flower Show Committee will be held on Wednesday November 21 at 8pm in the committee room of the village hall.

Agenda items will include reports from the chairman and the treasurer and also the election of officers.

Once again the committee would like to say thank you to all who helped with this year's show whether running stalls, assembling the staging, donating prizes, or even helping with the car park. All are welcome to attend this AGM.

One of the stalls at this year's flower show, was selling Ethiopian handicrafts. The magnificent sum of £115 was collected which money will provide another family with a much-needed house in the town of Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. This new house will probably house three generations of one family ensuring that they have a solid roof over their heads to protect against the rains.

ST.THOMAS'S AUTUMN FAYRE

This was held last Saturday and was a great success. It was a pleasure to see so many people coming and supporting the event and also enjoying what was on offer including 2 performances from the Tillingham Handbell Ringers. The wonderful total of over £700 was raised which sum deserves a thank you to all contributed to this figure.

COMMUNITY SHOP

This shop has been running on Wednesday mornings in the Chapman Room of St.Thomas's for quite some time now and is meeting the need of folk in the village as well as providing the chance of a cup of coffee and a chat.

From now on however, the times of opening are altering. Please note that from to-day, November 14th, the facility will be open from 9.30 until 11 o'clock. You will still be able to enjoy your tea or coffee, and purchase Fair Trade goodies as well as the fresh produce from the garden of Ruth and Dave Bull.

LUNCHEON CLUB

The next luncheon will be as usual on the third Thursday of the month, which is November 22nd.

ADVENT COURSE

The Daytime course this year will be at the home of Penny Lucas, Kingsway, Moorhen Avenue, St.Lawrence - telephone 778201 starting on Monday December 3 and the two following Mondays, the 10 and 17. The time is 2 - 3.30 with refreshments to finish at 4pm.

The evening course will be held in the Rectory, East End Road, on Wednesdays starting on December 5th and the two following dates of the 12th and 19th. The times are 8 - 9.30, with refreshments to finish by 10 o'clock. Telephone 776203.

The subject for discussion this year at both courses, is "Let Dreams Come True" by Ray Simpson a subject which promises lively discussion.

BOOKWORMS BOOK CLUB

Ten members of the club arrived at the King's Head in Bradwell to discuss The God of Small Things by Arundhai Roy.

This quite remarkable story was told through the eyes of an eightyear- old. The writing was beautifully descriptive and left some of the club members with a haunting sadness although during the telling of the tale there had been plenty to smile and even laugh about.

The next book to be discussed on December 6, is Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

The date for the January meeting is THURSDAY (note the change in day) and the book is The Brethren by Robyn Young. New members are always welcome to join in an interesting exchange of views and enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the King's Head.

CHURCH SERVICES

A reminder that the evening services during the forthcoming months will be held at the Rectory East End Road, but the first Sunday of every month, at Down Hall both venues starting at 6.30.

Sunday November 4 found a goodly congregation at Down Hall for a service based on Harvest. Those residents who chose to remain for this service really appreciated the opportunity to join in a proper, though short, service. At the end there was an opportunity to talk to everyone and enjoy a cup of tea and refreshments kindly provided by the staff.

The Sunday morning service on November 14 at St.Thomas's will be Parish Communion starting at 10.30.
