A FAMOUS lifeboat is opening its doors to the public this bank holiday weekend.
The Sir William Arnold lifeboat will soon be leaving Heybridge Basin to be permanently moored at St Katharine Docks in London - but not before giving the public an opportunity to take a look inside.
The 52ft Arun class lifeboat was built in 1973 and has been docked at Heybridge Basin since March.
The boat will be open to the public until Monday for one hour visits where visitors can learn about the vessel’s history and life-saving missions.
Only groups of six will be allowed on the boat at one time to abide by social distancing measures and children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Tickets cost £10. To book a place on the tours, go to lifeboat5202.com.
