Plans for a big retirement village have been given the the green light.
The new development in Burnham-on-Crouch off Maldon Road was given the go-ahead by Maldon District Council last night (Thursday, October 9).
The plans include a 103 bungalows, a 70-bedroom care home, 55 assisted living apartments, 50 of which are affordable housing, a community centre, medical centre, sports facilities and allotments.
The sports facilities include an open air swimming pool and tennis courts.
Eight key worker flats, officers and maintenance buildings are also included in the plans.
The original designs were rejected as they were deemed to be detrimental to the overall character and appearance of the surrounding area.
The main concerns related to the contemporary and flat roofed design.
The new designs have a pitched roof design and have been given the approval.
However some councillors criticised the scale of some of the larger buildings.
