MALDON'S popular Splash Park will be closed for 10 days.
Maldon District Council have announced its closure.
The Splash Park, within Maldon's Promenade Park, was closed today as behind the scenes staff who maintain the equipment have been affected by Covid-19.
Due to this, the park will be closed for 10 days.
Any customers with bookings have been contacted and a refund arranged as a priority.
The staff affected are not the front-line staff who visitors are used to seeing and the council have said there is no increased risk of Covid.
Councillor Wendy Stamp, leader of the district council, said: "The Splash Park is a well loved and well used facility, so we understand that this decision will be very disappointing.
"The timing during the school holidays is particularly unfortunate.
"However, while key staff are unable to work, the facility cannot be maintained so we have therefore taken the difficult decision to close.
"Staff have been working to contact anyone affected by this closure and arranging a refund for them as a priority.
"We thank everyone for bearing with us and as soon as we have an update we will let everyone know."
The Splash Park is a popular location for family visits and would usually be busy during the summer period.
