PLANS to demolish Tolleshunt D'arcy Village Hall to make way for a new community hub building have been approved.
The proposal submitted to Maldon District Council for approval to demolish the existing village hall on Tollesbury Road, and construction of a new community hub, has been approved.
The building will continue to be used for the purposes of a public hall and post office, the proposal is for construction of a new replacement community hub building which would accommodate a hall, kitchen toilets and community rooms with car parking located at the front of the building.
The design and access statement said the existing hall is "outdated in terms of the quality and type of spaces" and it is "inefficient in terms of heating and maintenance".
The new village hall will be constructed over the area of the old hall but in a different plan configuration.
It will be placed centrally on the site but set further back within the plot to provide car parking spaces at the front and an amenity area at the rear.
There will also be an access path to the secondary entrance, and a kitchen area.
Permission was granted by the council on Wednesday, August 18.
