Maldon's Splash Park will not reopen until 2022, the council reveal.
Due to 'unforeseen circumstances' including staff illness and mechanical issues, the popular Splash Park in Maldon will remain closed for the rest of the season.
Maldon District Council confirmed the news this morning (August 26), in a statement on Facebook.

A council spokesman said: "It is with great sadness we can confirm the Maldon Splash Park will not reopen for the rest of this season, but we will be back in 2022.
"We appreciate that this will be extremely disappointing to many of you, but due to unforeseen circumstances, including staff illness and mechanical issues, we are unable to reopen the Splash Park this season.
"Any customers with bookings will be notified and refunded, including those who had booked a Beach Hut and were planning to visit the Splash Park as well."
The Splash Park, within Maldon's Promenade Park, was closed earlier this month as behind the scenes staff who maintain the equipment had been affected by Covid-19.
Council leader Wendy Stamp, said: "The Splash Park is a well loved and well used facility, so we understand that this will be a huge disappointment for all those families who had been looking forward to visiting.
"We hope that you will visit us again next year."
The beach huts remain open until the end of September and can be booked online here.
