AN on-call firefighter has raised more than £2,000 for a charity after completing the London Marathon.
Jamie Corcoran, from Tollesbury, ran the Virtual London Marathon for Ella's on Sunday (October 3).
Despite signing up with only two weeks to go until race day, Jamie has raised a whopping £2,600 so far for the organisation working with women who have survived trafficking and exploitation.
The 32-year-old ran his own route from Westminster Bridge to Richmond Park with team mate Becky, also from Essex.
They finished in about 4 hours and 20 minutes.
Head of fundraising at Ella's, Amy Church said: "Some of their friends came to cheer them on and they and some Ella's staff joined them for a celebration in Richmond Park at the end."
As another runner was injured, the charity needed to find someone willing to take on the marathon at such short notice.
This is when Jamie stepped up to the challenge.
Every pound raised will go towards Ella’s’ work with women who have survived trafficking and exploitation, providing safe house accommodation and long-term support.
Jamie works as an on-call firefighter for Tollesbury Fire Station as well as a carpenter and builder.
