Rest in peace - Sir David Amess MP
SIR David Amess has died after he was stabbed several times inside a church in Leigh.
It has been confirmed that a murder investigation has been launched following the stabbing at the Belfairs Methodist Church, in Eastwood Road North.
Sir David, Tory MP for Southend West, lost his life despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene.
A man has been arrested, Essex Police confirmed.
