AN award-winning volunteer and tai chi instructor has launched a new “raunchy” fantasy book.

Judy Lee-Fenton has lived in Maldon on and off for most of her life, and calls it her “boomerang town”.

Two of her three children were born in the town, and she has nine grandchildren.

The new author does a lot in the community as the chair of the Essex Tai Chi Academy.

In 2017 she won a Volunteer of the Year Award at the Maldon District Sports Awards for her input within the tai chi world.

She’s also an avid sailor, having sailed around many countries with her late third husband – with two years of sailing spent visiting the islands in the Mediterranean.

Among her other interests is writing, having penned short stories and two non-fiction books, one of which is yet to be published.

She has also had articles published in magazines and newspapers.

This month Judy launched a brand new fantasy book called Raw Awakenings.

The story finds main characters Zude, Flute and Jaclet embroiled in an “emotional conflict on a strange world”.

Their lives are disrupted as their universe begins to collapse and mind travel is the best way to get out – but a decision threatens the trio.

Their “entwined sexual, spiritual and metaphysical experiences” push the limits as they cycle through reincarnations.

Judy said: “It’s a little raunchy in some places, as it says on the back of the book.”

Raw Awakenings is published by Austin Macauley and can be found at many online book shops, such as Amazon, Ebay, W H Smith and Waterstones.

It costs just £8.99 on most sites.

Judy is trying to arrange book signings with W H Smith and Waterstones.

She said getting out to do signings is “hard going” because of Covid-19 and home working but she is getting there.
