PLANS for up to 1,020 new homes with a neighbourhood centre, care home, and primary school in Essex have been submitted.

Developer Countryside has submitted its outline planning application for the development of the land north of South Woodham Ferrers, to Chelmsford City Council.

It comes after the adoption of the Masterplan as part of the Chelmsford Local Plan earlier this year.

The developer says the application "fully accords" with the adopted Masterplan.

The application seeks approval in principle for up to 1,020 new homes, a neighbourhood centre, a residential care home with up to 88 bedrooms, primary school provision, extensive areas of formal and informal green, open space and other associated infrastructure.

Countryside says it remains committed to ensuring those who live and work in South Woodham Ferrers are updated at key stages of the project and have created a new dedicated website which will be updated at key intervals.

The website also provides additional details on the content of the planning application.

Martin Leach, managing director of strategic land and major projects at Countryside, said: “After several years of extensive work with the local community, stakeholders and councils, I am pleased that we are now in a position to have just submitted our application for much needed new homes and community infrastructure north of South Woodham Ferrers.

"A decision on Oaklands Meadows, as the scheme would be known, is expected next year and we will continue to keep local residents updated via our dedicated website.”
