NEW food hygiene ratings have been awarded to eight establishments in the district.
Restaurants, cafes, takeaways and a pub have all been handed new food hygiene ratings by the Food Standards Agency.
On The Latch at Annley House in Althorne was rated five by the agency, the highest possible rating.
The restaurant is known for its atmosphere and welcoming staff, with a 4.6 star rating on Google Reviews.
The highest rating was also awarded to Swallowtail Restaurant and Bar in Burnham and River Breeze Cafe and Bar in North Fambridge.
The Swallowtail is popular with residents, with one Google reviewer commenting: "Good food, friendly staff, great location and atmosphere."
Burnham-on-Crouch Golf Club was given four stars.
The Green Man Inn at Waterside in Bradwell-on-Sea was given a high food hygiene rating of five.
The pub is also well-liked with 4.5 star rating on Google Reviews.
One reviewer said: "Great pub, I have been going here on and off now for last 3-4 months and it just gets better every time."
Three takeaways in the district were given new ratings.
Family run business Sauda Village in Burnham and Pointless Plates, which delivers to Burnham and the Dengie, were both rated five.
Kabinsnax in Spital Road, Maldon, was given a rating of four.
