PUPILS at a primary school near Maldon are set to benefit from a new outdoor gym, after a bid was given the green light by planners.
Danbury Park County Primary School submitted plans to Chelmsford City Council in December for a proposed outdoor gym on the school playground.
The school is Ofsted outstanding rated and located in Well Lane, Danbury.
Its now approved gym is set to consist of eight items of outdoor gym equipment within an area of the primary school's playing fields.
A parent governor of the school said in a letter to the council: "As a community school clearly funds are tight and post pandemic we are very keen to provide the children with an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and get active, therefore time is of the essence and our budget is constrained."
According to the proposal, the gym will sit on grass mat pads which will allow the grass to grow through the pads to reduce the grass erosion and will sit within "existing site undulations".
The proposal has been granted planning permission by the city council with a condition that the development starts no later than three years from its approval.
