A NEW private tuition centre has opened its doors for any children from pre-school to those taking their GCSEs.

The new MagiKats private tuition centre has opened in Tollesbury and is now accepting student enrolments.

It will cover Tollesbury, Tolleshunt D’Arcy, Tolleshunt Knights, Heybridge, Goldhanger and Maldon.

It is run by Susie Crafer, a secondary school teacher for nearly 20 years and most recently an Assistant Principal.

Her centre offers out-of-school tutoring in reasoning, Maths and English for any child from pre-school to GCSE.

Weekly interactive workshops aim to help children and teenagers improve their subject skills and study skills.

Each child is also provided with a different programme to follow with work tailored specifically to the individual.

Susie feels the MagiKats centre will benefit her community.

She said: “With many years working at a senior level in education, I know first-hand what support is needed to enable children to be successful.

"The MagiKats programme is a proven success story and I particularly like their unique two strand approach of curriculum workshops and core work at home. It sets MagiKats apart.

"The quality and variety of resources and support that students get face to face from their mentors, alongside the skills they develop by working in small groups means that students get the best of both worlds.

"The core work that they complete independently means that they develop skills in independence and resilience which are vital to their future success."

Outside of her work, Susie is a keen runner and was until recently a run director and volunteer coordinator for junior Parkrun.

The mother of four moved to Tollesbury 18 months ago and hopes to expand and open more MagiKats centres in Essex.

With study skills, thinking skills and problem-solving skills included at every level, Susie says the effect of the MagiKats programmes spreads across all subjects.

She added: "Our mentors are experts in their subjects and have been through the local education system so understand what is needed to be successful in this area.”
