A FIRE which spread across two floors has destroyed a garage building.
Fire crews were called to a property in Mundon after a passerby reported a fire in a garage at 11.05am on Saturday.
The fire started in the garage of a home in Main Road while the occupants were out.
On arrival crews from Maldon, Burnham, South Woodham Ferrers and Witham confirmed there was a large fire which spread across two floors of the garage building.
Firefighters worked hard in difficult conditions to extinguish the fire by 12.04pm.

They then stayed on site to dampen down the surrounding area to prevent any fire re-igniting.
Crews identified an electrical fault as the potential cause of this fire.
Carl Pullen, fire investigation officer, said: “We believe the fire started accidentally as a result of an electrical fault with a fridge freezer which was kept in the garage.
“The garage has sadly been destroyed as a result of the fire, but we were pleased to see that the occupants had working smoke alarms throughout their property."We recommend you have at least one working smoke alarm on every level of your home and that you test them at least once a month.”
