A HISTORIC market is looking to improve as the council hope to hear the communities’ thoughts.
Maldon Council are looking to hear from residents and businesses on the existing Butt Lane Market and how it might be improved for the future.
As part of the authority’s European Regional Development Fund welcome back fund allocation, Maldon District Council is working with Suffolk Market Events to complete a heath check on the traditional market which is currently held on Thursdays and Saturdays.
The information given by the community will be used to look at ways to create an environment that will meet the needs of all Maldon town centre visitors and provide even greater choice for consumers.

Leader of Maldon District Council Penny Channer said “Successful markets can make a significant contribution to the local economy and character of an area, and we recognise the contribution that the current market stall holders are making.
“Through this project, our aim is to enhance and improve the existing market to further support Maldon town centre’s economic recovery in this post-Covid environment.
“I encourage residents and businesses to provide their thoughts on how Butt Lane Market could be enhanced in the future.”
Feedback can be submitted by using an online submission form for businesses and a separate one for residents.
They can both be found on the District Council website by going to maldon.gov.uk/consultations.
