A MAN hopes to get people back into pubs with a new darts league.

John Dudley is starting a Monday night darts league which will be open to Maldon, the Dengie, and any pub or club within 20 minutes travelling distance.

The league is due to start in early May but John says the league needs a few more teams yet.

It differs from other dart leagues as games are based on a best of three format as opposed to the single leg format adopted by the other leagues.

It is also aimed at the more competitive player.

There are trios, pairs and singles games included and each team is made up of a minimum of six players.

Women and men are welcome and mixed gender teams are encouraged.

Young people are also free to join.

Teams from the district as well as Hatfield Peverel and other nearby towns and villages are invited to get involved.
