A KEBAB manufacturer based in the Dengie has retained its title as the best in the UK at the industry's top awards ceremony.

Kismet Kebabs, based in Latchingdon, was awarded Best Supplier of the Year in the British Kebab Awards 2021 in October.

The company manufactures and supplies more than 200 tonnes of various kebabs across the UK market and worldwide from its factory on a six-acre site in the Dengie.

It has also launched its new plant-based range this year to offer more meat free alternatives for consumers.

The award-winning business has kept its title as the best supplier in the UK for the second year in a row after attending the 10th British Kebab Awards this month.

A spokesman for the manufacturer said the event was a "massive achievement" for Maldon as its MP John Whittingdale as well as the town mayor and mayoress David and Sharon Ogg attended.

Maldon high street Turkish restaurant Sark was also awarded among the best kebab restaurants nationwide in the ceremony held in London.

As well as keeping its title, Kismet was one of the sponsors for the awards among some of the big name brands such as Unilever, Just Eats and McCains.
