A DRAMA group in Maldon has cancelled this week's performances due to Covid striking key players.
Maldon Drama Group was set to stage a production of the classic Treasure Island this week.
The "comedy romp" would not stick very close to the original but with bad jokes and plenty of slapstick, the group promised an enjoyable night.
The production would have run from tomorrow, April 7 to Saturday, April 9.

However, the group has sadly cancelled its performances for the week due to Covid cases amongst the cast and crew.
Maldon Drama Group member Carey Brown said: "It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce that due to covid flying through the cast and crew, now striking key players, we have to take the sad decision to cancel this week’s performances of Treasure Island.
"We are hoping the Jolly Todger will set sail again in April 2023.
"Anyone with tickets will be contacted directly by ticketsource, or our secretary, regarding a refund or rebooking."
The group's next production will be for its 70th anniversary in October - One Man, Two Guvnors.
