WORK to build dozens of homes in Latchingdon has begun.
Essex based housing association CHP has started building their new development on Burnham Road.
It will see 25 homes for the open market, 11 homes made for affordable rent and five shared ownership homes created.
The new flats, houses and bungalows are set to be completed by June 2023.
The land was previously owned by Latchingdon Parish Council and a farmer.
Contractors, Cocksedge, are using sustainable designs and materials to have significant energy cost savings for the lifetime of the properties.
They will be installing air source heat pumps and solar panels which will convert light into electricity.
All properties will have the option for electric car chargers.
Carl Hockey, growth and partnership director, said: “We are excited to have started work at the Burnham Road development, which will include our first homes for open market sale in four years.
“This will help us to continue providing more great affordable homes across our region.
“As a housing provider we are committed to providing a range of properties to meet local need. It’s also great that these homes will be built to the highest environmental standards, as we work towards reaching carbon Net Zero by 2050.”
