A NEW pavilion and clubhouse could be built on a village playing field.
The current portable cabins in King George V playing field in Southminster have been described as "beyond repair".
A planning application has been made to build a new multi-use community pavilion and clubhouse for the Scout group.
If approved, the new development would replace the existing building on the field.
The plan also includes associated car parking and landscaping.
The building would have a function room which would hold approximately 80 people, along with a gym area.
Southminster parish and Maldon district councillor Adrian Fluker said: “If approved the new community pavilion will deliver on some much needed first-class facilities for all the residents of Southminster and will mean that the old decrepit portable cabins on King George V Playing fields will be removed.
“The playing fields are already used extensively and Southminster has its own flourishing ladies', men’s and youth football teams.
“Once approved there will be a local public consultation to ensure the pavilions meets the needs of local community groups, sports clubs and resident’s.
“Fund raising will start in the summer and we hope to start work on the project next year.”
