A RETIREMENT housing scheme is entering its final stage in the development.
Tollesbury will have new affordable specialist housing for people aged over 60.
The Salt Meadows development, by housebuilder Lewis and Scott, will provide 25 homes for people which includes eight affordable rent homes and four shared ownership homes.
Developers have been working with Maldon District Council, who requested the number of homes to be altered to 25, instead of the previously proposed 29.
Lewis & Scott founder and CEO Rob Scott said: “Our goal is to support the health and wellbeing of local older people, and we know specialist homes in a supportive environment are key to this – yet there simply aren’t enough available, particularly if people want to remain part of the community.
“Working closely with Maldon District Council, we have created a scheme that will make a significant difference to local people’s lives, and we want to thank everyone who has supported this project every step of the way.
“We owe it to the people living in Maldon who have shared their personal stories and supported us from the start, to ensure these homes are available to move into as quickly as possible.
“If we are able to gain consent in August, then that process can begin immediately.”
