A FAMILY event is being held to raise money for the restoration of a historic community hall.
The first ever classic car and motorbike fun day is being held in aid of the Henry Samuel Hall Restoration Fund.
The event is on Sunday to raise money for the hall in Steeple Road, Mayland.
More than 200 cars, bikes and military vehicles are expected to attend the event.
There are also more than 30 food, craft and auto jumble stalls set to be there.
Bouncy castles, children’s rides, pony rides and a junior dog show where each child will receive a certificate for taking part will be on if the weather permits.
The hall was originally purchased by Joseph Fels in 1908 for the village school.
In 1912, the hall was purchased by Henry Samuel.
In 1924, Henry’s widow passed it as a gift to trustees so it could always be used by the village.
Mayland Parish Council is now the sole trustee of the hall, which is believed to be one of the first demountable buildings in the UK.
One of the event organisers, Debbie Down, said: “Over the years it has become a hub of the village.
"We have people who used to go to Sunday school there and it was a meeting point.
“But over the last 10 years it has fallen into disrepair.
“We took it on three years ago to bring it back to its former glory.
“The money raised will go towards electrics for the hall to restore it back to its original state with modern updates too.
“We’ve been doing boot sales since March this year and we are getting to know lots of people who are coming to the boot sales.

“New windows have been fitted. The next phase is electrics and then we will have a new kitchen.
“We’re getting groups coming back to use the hall and it will be used as a polling station.”
The event is being held on Sunday, August 21 from 10am until 4pm at Lawling Park Playing Field, CM3 6AD.
Entry costs £2.50 for adults and children aged 16 and under go free.
