LIFEBOAT crews were called to an incident at the end of their open day event.
Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI's open day event had just drawn to a close when they received a call-out from the Coastguard.
Crews made their way to a paddleboard incident near Creeksea on the River Crouch involving two people.
When they arrived, it was quickly established by the team that there were five people involved.
All five casualties were recovered from the water by Atlantic Class lifeboat Tony and Robert Britt.
They were taken to Burnham Yacht Harbour where they received medical treatment.
Two ambulances attended and took two of the casualties to hospital for check-ups and monitoring.
The lifeboat team received a thank you card from the casualties the next day, once they had all recovered.
In the card, they said: “To the teams that saved our lives, for once words cannot describe how thankful I am to everyone who was involved.
“Yesterday was a day I hope I never relive again. From the bottom of our hearts thank you.”volunteers at the Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI have said they are “very grateful” for the thank you message.
