AN appeal has been launched after a bid for a new four bed home was turned down.
The planning application for a development on land in Grange Road, Wickham Bishops, was refused by Maldon District Council.
The plans looked to build a large four-bedroom home with a four-bay garage.
There were four public objections to the plans and one letter in support.
The objections stated that the development would be too large in comparison with the cottages in the street and would be overpowering in the road.
Maldon District Council refused the application due to the rural location of the site and concerns it would be disconnected from services and facilities.

In the refusal statement the council said: “The proposed development would detrimentally alter the character of the area and have an unacceptable visual impact on the countryside through the resultant urbanisation and domestication of the site.
“The proposed development of the site would be out of character with the surrounding area which comprises of the rural countryside.
“This form of development would be urban in character and appearance and would lead to the encroachment of domestic development into the rural area.
“This would cause unacceptable harm to the character and appearance of the rural area.”
