THERE were 14 pairs for bridge last Wednesday. The winners were Bert Davis and David Bishop with 62.85 per cent.

Second were Pauline Lewins and Yvonne West with 60.76 per cent and third were David Walker and Barrie Stead with 58.68 per cent.

BEACON WINE CIRCLE

THE February meeting of the wine circle was entertained by a very interesting talk on the Secret Lives of Garden Birds by Mr M Logan-Wood.

With some lovely colour slides of our common garden birds he amazed us with some very unusual facts about the habits of these birds.

He also explained why some of these species are declining due to lack of insects to feed their young and why others are on the increase due to the warmer springs.

All in all it was a very entertaining evening.
