A CHARITY event has been cancelled to “observe the period of national mourning” following the death of Her Majesty the Queen.
The Cycle for Life and garden fete planned to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Farleigh Hospice has been cancelled.
The decision to cancel the plans was made to respect the national mourning period.
There are currently no plans to reschedule the events.
Spokesman Heather Baldwin said: “As a mark of respect, we have taken the decision to cancel this weekend’s events at Farleigh Hospice - our 40th birthday garden fete on Saturday, September 17, and our Cycle for Life event on Sunday, September 18 - to observe the period of national mourning.

“We understand that this may cause disappointment to those who have made plans to attend either of our events this weekend, however we felt that this was the right decision to make at this sad time.
“We also appreciate that many of our staff, volunteers and supporters will be looking to travel into London to pay their respects this weekend and wanted to ensure that they had the opportunity to do so.
“Anybody who has already registered for Cycle For Life will be contacted separately.”
