FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze which broke out in a pile of wood in a field.
The fire service in Maldon was called to the field near John Thresh Way on Wednesday.
A crew from Maldon and an off-road vehicle from Manningtree attended the scene.
They found a pile of felled trees on fire in the field and worked to extinguish the blaze.
An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Firefighters from Maldon were called to a fire in a field near John Thresh Way, Langford at 5.16pm on Wednesday, September 14.
"On arrival, crews reported that a pile of trees was on fire and requested an off-road vehicle from Manningtree due to difficulty accessing the field.

"Firefighters extinguished the fire by 6.56pm."
Asked about the cause of the fire, the spokesperson from the fire service said: “We recorded it as accidental or deliberate - both are possibilities.”
