The Autumn Leaves Club was attended by 48 members, all meeting up in the village hall on Wednesday, April 2.
Ken, our chairman, opened the meeting with the birthdays for April being remembered and handed out cards and goodie bags to those members celebrating their birthdays.
Also, sick members were accounted for. A thank you letter was read out from Edna Cole on her return from hospital.
A very interesting talk by Mr Bailey on the various treasures he has recorded with his metal detector, some items going back to the 1600's.
The competition for the best glass paperweight was won by Glenniee Giles, and at our next meeting the prize will be given for the prettiest necklace.
The raffle was well supported and the first prize won by Joyce Higgs was a £5 voucher to be spent in the Cheap Shop in Tiptree.
Jean Shead gave details of a theatre trip, and also an outing with Kelvedon Good Companions Club.
There was a welcome cup of tea whilst listening to a funny poem about gardening.
The club was pleased to welcome Mrs Heather Brush, who will become a member in the near future.
AUCTION
Chris and Nigel's next auction will be held at Longfields, Plains Road, Gt Totham on Sunday, April 27, staring promptly at 10am.

GARDEN WASTE
The garden waste collections have now recommended, so you can dispose of all your garden waste every Saturday, either from Knights Close between 9.45-9.55am or from the village hall car park from 10-10.15am.
BINGO
Come along to the village hall every Wednesday evening and enjoy a game of Bingo. At halftime refreshments are available and a raffle held. Bingo starts promptly at 8pm.
Books cost £2 each, and you can have as many books as you wish. The flyer game is £1 extra.
All funds raised go towards the maintenance and improvement of the village hall.
AID 2 AFRICA
Aid 2 Africa still urgently requires all your kind donations of adults and children's clothing and shoes, bedding and soft toys.
You can leave your donations either at 13 Barnhall Road at any time, or take them along to the village hall on a Wednesday evening between 7-8pm.
stretch go along to Jazzercise classes being held in the village hall on Thursday evenings between 6.15pm and 7.10pm.

COUNTRY AND WESTERN DANCE
The next country and western dance being held in the village hall will take place on Saturday, April 26, dancing to Vegas.
Doors to the hall will be open from 7pm, with dancing taking place between 8pm and 11.30pm.
It is advisable to book in advance as these dance evenings are very popular - so get your tickets, priced at £5.50 per person, by telephoning either 01621 816641 or 01245 491252.
Line dancing and freestyle dancing also take place and there is always a good raffle.
Please take along your own food and drinks.
All profits from these regularly held dances go towards Essex Air Ambulance.Ends
