It's been a sad week in the village as we have lost four old friends in the same week MABEL WELLS: Mabel's funeral will be on Monday 28 at 11am Chelmsford Crematorium and afterwards in the village hall JACK NEWTON: Jack died last Thursday afternoon in Broomfield Hospital, he has had heart problems for several years. Jack was a founder member of Mundon Vics (together with his brother Peter). Jack was best known in the village as long time treasure, secretary and part-time goalkeeper for the team. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Betty, and all his family.
JOYCE BINDER: Joyce a long time resident of Stud Farm was greatly involved in the progress of the village; together with her husband, Bert, she worked hard to ensure the building of the New Victory Hall and its continuance.
Her mother started Mundon WI in the 1930s and Joyce was president for many years and continued to be a member until she was unable to travel.
She started the Keep Fit class in the hall and kept it going for many years, also she and Bert started the Mundon Bowls Club.
Mundon has reason to be grateful to her and the Binder family.
Joyce died on Saturday 12 April NEIL RENWICK: Neil died on Tuesday 8th of Aprilat the age of 61years after a long illness.
Funeral Service at Chelmsford Crematorium on Thursday 24th April at 11.45am
HAPPIER NEWS
The village is very proud of a new(ish) resident for his wonderful effort in the London Marathon. Daniel Balsom of West Chase made his first attempt and he completed the course in 4hours 30 minutes. Well Done Daniel.
NURSERY OPEN DAY
Saturday April 18 being the open day at Small Steps nursery, I went along to vet it.
As an ex-primary school teacher I can say I was impressed by the standard. It is a lovely, colourful environment, set in farmland, well equipped with every appropriate learning aid and much play gear.
All facilities are there for disabled children and the teachers admirably qualified.
