The following are some of the matters discussed at the meeting held on May 28: The title deeds of Jubilee Field. After countless phone calls and protracted correspondence with the solicitor who dealt with the purchase and transfer of ownership of Jubilee Field, the council has now had conformation that the land has been registered and the title is in the name of St Lawrence Parish Council.
Basket ball court: It was noted that the white lining of the court in Jubilee Field has yet to be done. The council agreed the contractor's bill should be paid, but a small sum retained until the white lines have been painted.
Safety inspection: The children's play equipment in Jubilee Field has recently been inspected and a satisfactory report received.
Street signs: New signs are to be erected to clarify where Wick Farm Road leads into Seaview Parade; the Seaview Promenade sign is to be repaired or replaced as necessary; and it has been reported to the appropriate authority that the Seaway sign has gone missing.
Dog fouling: this issue was again discussed, with a member of the public stressing the nuisance caused to parents and children walking to the pick up point for the school bus. The pavement area between The Stone and Wick Farm Road, as well as Wick Farm Road itself, is particularly bad, as is Jubilee Field.
The Animal Warden makes regular patrols of St Lawrence but can only act when witnessing an offence or on information received.
It was suggested that if anyone knows of a dog owner whose dog is regularly fouling the footpaths or the field they report this to Maldon District Council on 01621 854477 so that appropriate action can be taken.
Next meeting: On Monday, May 26 at 7pm at the Church Centre the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council will be held. This will include the election of the chair and vice chair for the forthcoming year. The Annual Parish Meeting will follow on starting at 8.30pm. All residents are invited to attend to hear a report on the council's activities on their behalf over the previous year.
