A SOLAR energy company is asking for their thoughts before submitting plans for a new solar park.
British Solar Renewables is gathering feedback on plans for a proposed 19-megawatt solar park near the Dengie.
The company is looking to submit a planning application to Maldon District Council later this year.
The project site is on land south of Keelings Road, Dengie.
The proposed park would produce enough renewable energy to power approximately 4,751 homes in the UK.
This would save 4,208 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
The company invited residents to a drop-in session last week to get feedback in order the finalise their proposals before submitting a formal application.
The Solar Park will comprise ground-mounted photovoltaic solar arrays, a substation, switchgear container, inverter/transformer units, site access, internal access tracks, security measures, access gates, other ancillary infrastructure and landscaping and biodiversity enhancements.
Dengie Solar Park will connect to the National Grid via an underground cable to a point of connection in an adjacent field, removing the need for a long cable route.
It will be a temporary development of 40 years, allowing the solar PV development and associated infrastructure to be removed and agricultural use reinstated following decommissioning.
If approved, the company will set up a community fund of £1,000 per installed MW to be used towards community projects in the area.
Zak Beer, project manager at BSR, said: “We encourage the community to take part and share their local knowledge and views on our proposals, ahead of the project design being finalised and a planning application submitted.

“We have organised a range of channels to gather community feedback, including our drop-in consultation event which provided an invaluable opportunity to speak with our project team face-to-face.
“There is also a project website, with an online feedback form, as well as a project email address and Freephone number.
“BSR welcomes all responses regarding Dengie Solar Park.”
Residents can get in touch to share their views until Tuesday, November 15.
