A DOG and its owner completed a 100-kilometre walk to raise money for the Marie Curie charity.

Bertie and owner Yvonne Baker, from Maldon, raised more than £300 from donations by completing the Walk Your Dog 100km for Marie Curie challenge.

The pet received a bandana, medal and certificate to recognise his efforts for charity.

After taking part in the challenge, he joined Marie Curie fundraisers outside Morrisons in Maldon.

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Yvonne said: “Bertie loved to meet all the generous people of Maldon while doing his bit collecting for Marie Curie.”

Bridget Brennan, Maldon’s Marie Curie fundraising group volunteer, said: “Bertie Baker, looking dapper in his yellow bandana, was the star attraction at Maldon Morrisons during the recent collections for Marie Curie.

“A two-day collection there netted more than £700 for the charity which provides free specialist nursing care in the home of loved ones with a terminal illness.
