PRIMARY school pupils were victorious in an athletics competition.
A group of key stage two children from St Cedd's Primary School attended an indoor athletics competition at the Dengie 100 Sports Centre in Burnham,
The youngsters gave a strong account of themselves in the competition, which was arranged by William de Ferrers High School.
The children, hopped, skipped and jumped with everything they had, and raced faster than they ever had before.
And despite being the smallest school in the competition, the children were victorious.
The school beat St Nicholas Primary, Maylandsea Primary, St Mary’s Primaryand Burnham Primary, and is now heading to the finals on December 8 in Wickford.
When the results were announced, it was a very emotional moment for all children and staff.
Proud headteacher Lyndsey Wood said: “We may be a small school, but we are passionate about providing our children with the same opportunities as children attending larger schools.
“Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to teach the children the skills they need to participate in as many sporting competitions as possible.
“I was incredibly proud when the children returned to school having come first in the indoors athletic competition.
“The atmosphere around school was incredible and the children are excited about participating in the final next month - come on St Cedd’s!”
