A SCHOOL has confirmed why a teenager boy, who was taken off the premises, was on site, despite not being a pupil there.
Parents raised concerns after a boy, now confirmed to be under the age of 16, gained access to the Ormiston Rivers Academy site in Burnham without being a student at the school.
The youngster left the premises in Southminster Road after staff quickly addressed the situation.
The boy told staff that he was there due to his girlfriend being a student at the school and had no intention of causing any harm.
He had travelled to the school on the public 102 St Lawrence bus.
Parents of children at the school were concerned the boy was able to get on to the school site without identification.
A spokesman from the school: “The boy told staff he was there to see his girlfriend, who is one of our students.
“He is under 16 and the reason for him being on the premises was completely innocent.
“Multiple steps have been made to prevent this from happening in the future.
“As per the school’s protocol, the incident was reported to our regional school director and the bus company.
“While all members of the public are allowed to use the bus, we have spoken with the bus company, and they have subsequently assured us they will be stepping up their ID checks for our school’s stop.”
