MALDON's world famous mud race is set for its return with thousands expected to get stuck in.
The Maldon Mud Race has announced the last few spaces are remaining for this year’s event.
The charity event brings thousands of people together to watch participants tackle the muddy challenge.
It usually sees hundreds of people in fancy dress, braving the mud.
This year’s race is on Sunday, May 14 in Maldon Promenade Park.
Viewers can enjoy the day watching on large screens as participants scramble through the mud.
There will be stalls and entertainment in the park throughout the day.
Entrants take part to raise money for charities, and the event itself supports Havens Hospices, The Cinnamon Trust, Sea Cadets, Farleigh Hospice, Action for Family Carers, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Service, the Daniel Wilkinson Foundation, Brainwave and the David Randall Foundation.

Chairman of The Maldon Mud Race, Brian Farrington, said: “The day involves nearly 12 months of pre-planning and there are always a few surprises.
“As the event grows, we are expanding our offering to include our duck race, fancy dress competition for competitors plus a wide range of stalls with snacks and promotional gifts.
“Last year saw nearly 20,000 people attend the event so we are hoping to raise even more money for the charities.
“Last year we distributed over £35,000 and we are looking for this to be the best year ever.”
