A POLICE helicopter was launched following reports of illegal hare coursing in Mundon.
Essex Police Rural Engagement Team worked together with the National Police Air Service and Essex Police to investigate the reports.
The helicopter searched for the suspects, believed to be a group of men on private land in New Hall Lane.
No arrests were made however enquiries are ongoing.
Hare coursing has been illegal since 2004 and Essex Police is taking reports of anyone seen involved seriously.
As of August 1, 2022, new government legislation means anyone caught hare coursing will face an unlimited fine and up to six months in prison.
Hare coursing is when dogs are used to chase, catch and kill hares.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called to an address on New Hall Lane in Mundon shortly before 10am on Thursday, January 5, following reports of a group of men hare coursing on private land.

“Police helicopter was lifted to locate the suspects who left the scene.
“No arrests were made and enquiries are ongoing.”
