AN event which aims to showcase military history, vehicles and exhibits was held in Maldon.
The Essex Historic Military Vehicle Association showed off about 70 historic military vehicles in Promenade Park for the public to admire.
Crowds gathered at the 'Winter Gathering' event as members of the association performed some 1940’s style dancing in the sunshine to traditional music.
Members of the group brought their Jeeps, Land Rovers, lorries and tanks to the free event.
The military vehicles date from The Great War and Second World War through to more modern times.
The group has been running events in Maldon Promenade Park for the last five years, with the aim of teaching the public the role historic military vehicles played in the world.
The association hopes to keep military history alive for future generations and show how technology has developed.
The group was formed by historic military vehicle and history enthusiasts in 2014 and now has more than 250 members involved from Essex and beyond.
A spokesman for the Essex HMVA group said: “The Essex Historic Military Vehicle Association were delighted to be welcomed back to Maldon for the 2023 Military Vehicle Winter Gathering.
“This event saw around 70 historic military vehicles and their owners braving the cold to put on a free display to the public.”
Colin Tebb, chairman of the association said: ”This event has been running for over 20 years now. We love being at Promenade Park - Maldon council has been gracious to allow us to use the park for the last five years to hold the event.
“We have vehicles dating from World War Two to almost current times, and one of the joys of this event is we can never be sure what will arrive.”
The next Essex HMVA event is the Armed Forces Day at Maldon Promenade Park on Saturday, June 24, and the Echoes of History show at the Living Memorial in Rettendon on Sunday, August 13, and Monday, August 14.
