THE cause of a blaze that saw six horses evacuated from a stable has been recorded as accidental.
Emergency services were called to a barn on fire in School Road, Little Totham, at 7.51pm last night.
Firefighters from Tiptree, Tollesbury, Maldon and Corringham were sent to the scene.
Six horses were rescued from a nearby stable building on site and were taken to safety.
Firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to the stable.
By 10.30pm the fire was under control and the incident was scaled down to two crews.
The fire service believes the cause of the fire was accidental.

A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews managed a controlled burn of the material inside the barn throughout the early hours of Friday morning.
“One crew remained at the scene at 7am on Friday. The fire was out, but crews were continuing to eliminate hotspots and make sure the area was safe before leaving the scene.
“We believe this fire was caused accidentally.”
