A MALDON primary school has maintained its high standards, according to a report by Ofsted inspectors.
Heybridge Primary was visited by the education watchdog in January.
The school received good ratings in every area, with inspectors praising pupils' enthusiastic behaviour towards their studies and enjoyment of their lessons.
Extra-curricular activities were also singled out for praise in the report, with opportunities to have positions of responsibility, such as playground leads and prefects.
The report says: "Pupils know and understand their school values - the 'Heybridge Fives’ - and demonstrate these throughout the day.
"They are respectful of each other and look after each other. Pupils take an active role in the school.
"Democratically elected school councillors are proud to represent their school and contribute to events such as the Remembrance Parade.
"Leaders have designed an ambitious curriculum, and it sets out the knowledge pupils need to learn and remember."
Headteacher Simon Waltham said: "I am proud that this report captures the progress we have made so far.
"The staff have worked very hard, and the behaviour of the children was excellent and really noted by the inspection team.
"We were particularly pleased with the improvements for pupils with special educational needs and will continue to move forwards in this provision.
"This is a benchmark from which to continue to drive further improvements for the children, families and the Heybridge Primary School community."
Staff, pupils and parents will also soon be saying a sad farewell to teacher Anne Read, who is due to retire at the end of March after nearly 30 years working at the pre-school.
A primary school spokesman said: "We all wish her well but will miss her dearly as she is a much loved, respected and valued member of our community.
"Although it will be very sad to say goodbye to Anne, we all wish her every happiness in her retirement."
