A PAIR of sisters are selling a plot of land filled with memories and it could fetch more than £950,000.
The plot in Mope Lane, Wickham Bishops has planning permission for a state of the art home with an orchard, pond, wildflower meadow and more.
It is on the market with a guide price of £950,000 and is being sold by sisters Erica Webber and Claire Koch on behalf of their father who managed an apple orchard on the land in the 1970s.
The sisters hope the land can be used to reinstate the orchard and enhance the area.
Erica said: “Our father was a hobbyist fruit farmer throughout our childhood. Unfortunately the orchard disappeared several years ago and we haven’t been in a position to replant the trees.
“We have many fond memories of playing here as children and we wanted to do something that would be an asset to the community and enhance the surrounding area.
“As such the whole approach to the planning application was landscape first. We wanted to create a beautiful habitat – reinstate the orchard with a variety of English apples as well as establish a greater level of biodiversity with a pond and wildflower meadow to encourage wildlife.”
The approved plans were drawn up by Karen Fardell and Paula Robertson from award-winning Plater Claiborne Architecture and Design.
The design draws inspiration from the rural character of Wickham Bishops.
Claire said: “Enhancing the landscape was the starting point but we also recognise that people’s priorities are changing.
“They are much more conscious of energy costs, they want the flexibility to work from home and while they’re attracted to the country lifestyle they don’t necessarily have time for all the associated upkeep in terms of the gardens and grounds.
“What has been designed is different to the usual country house. It has all the benefits of going back to the ‘good life’ – with fruit trees and space for a vegetable patch and plenty of room for children to play outside with a real sense of peace and quiet – yet there are not acres of land to maintain.”
