A WORLD famous race is all set to go with celebrity guests confirmed.
Maldon Mud Race organisers have announced the event will once again be started by top comedian Jo Brand.
It will continue to be supported by PGR Builders and Timber which opened behind Morrisons in Maldon in 2021.
This business has a number of branches across Essex, which include Chelmsford and Braintree.
Operations director Paul Massenhove said: “Our staff are ready to participate in the race this year, and we hope we will improve on last year’s times.
“We are so proud of the guys for taking on the challenge and representing the company for such a wonderful cause.
“We are asking for any donations, big or small, which all helps such a great charity. If you would like to donate you can do so in branch or by going to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/pgrtimber.”
Race chairman Brian Farrington said: “When you have the support of local businesses like PGR, it allows you to plan and create something special for the local and wider community.
"We are so pleased to have PGR Builders and Timber on board again who will join other prestigious names such as Swish Fibre, Porsche Centre Colchester, Wilkin and Sons, and Tesco Maldon.
“We find sponsors really enjoy this great day. It gives them the chance to mingle with residents and visitors as well as other local businesses.
“Once again, we are honoured that comedian Jo Brand will start the race.
"BBC Essex will run our stage and sound output, plus teams from ITV local news will be running in the race, so we know the 2023 Maldon Mud Race will be a superb day out for families and enthusiasts from across the area.”
The race is on Sunday, May 14, with entertainment from 10am to 7pm at Maldon's Promenade Park.
The event is free to attend for spectators and there will be on stage entertainment and a range of artisan food and music.
