A CEREMONY was held to reopen a historical museum which celebrates Maldon’s history.
The Maldon Museum in the Park has reopened for the season with a big ceremony.
The museum next to the main gates of Promenade Park in Mill Road is run entirely by volunteers.
Historian Dr Patrick Chaplin cut the ribbon at the event to officially reopen the site.
Museum volunteer Jonathan Cruickshank said: “The opening day was an enjoyable event with a good number of visitors entering the museum.
“Dr Patrick Chaplin made a good speech before cutting the ribbon and signed copies of Here's Good Luck to the Pint Pot.
“The children's Easter activity of searching for toy eggs hidden amongst the displays was also a success, with the children each getting a free dinosaur-themed felt-tip pen after completing the activity.
“Maldon Museum in the Park has existed since 1922 and features displays on the history of Maldon, including Blackwater sailing barges, Sadd's and Bentall's, Maldon through the World Wars and the Victorian and Edwardian periods."
The museum is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers.
